Facts

On Jan. 21, 1999, the defendant Neil Kramer was in the course of driving an 80,000-pound tractor trailer and fell asleep at the wheel of his rig as he was driving northbound on the I-15 Freeway near Baker. Kramer's rig slammed into a tractor trailer driven by the plaintiff Jeff Woolard, 42, knocking the vehicle off the freeway and into the desert. The plaintiff was rendered unconscious.
