Facts
The plaintiff was employed by the defendant as a credit analyst on Sep. 1, 1994. On Oct. 4, 1994, the plaintiff
alleged that she was sexually harassed by her supervisor who touched her back at a bar during a co-workerÆs
birthday lunch. The plaintiff lodged a complaint with the defendantÆs Human Resources department and two
other women then came forward with complaints of a similar nature about this particular supervisor.
The supervisor was terminated in November 1994 for inappropriate conduct towards one
of those employees. The plaintiff continued to work for the defendant until she was terminated in
January 1996 for insubordination, poor performance and poor attendance.
Settlement Discussions
The plaintiff initially demanded $400,000 and shortly before trial, increased this demand to $500,000. The defendant did not counter. During the trial, the plaintiff demanded $350,000 to settle. The defendant offered $15,000.
Other Information
After the plaintiffÆs case in chief, the defendant moved for nonsuit. The court granted the defendantÆs motion for nonsuit as to the plaintiffÆs gender discrimination and sexual harassment claims.
