Facts
The plaintiff was a cook on a catering truck. In July 1999, she was riding in the catering truck when the driver
slammed the brakes to avoid a car cutting in front of the catering truck. The cook was thrown to the floor of the
catering truck, as she was not wearing a seat belt. As she was thrown to the ground, a hot liquid spilled onto
her, and caused third degree burns on a portion of her legs.
