Facts

On June 30, 1999, the plaintiff, a 49-year-old woman, was traveling southbound on San Antonio Avenue approaching the intersection with 16th Street in the City of Upland. Plaintiff had a green light as she entered the intersection. Defendant A was traveling eastbound on 16th Street toward the intersection with San Antonio Avenue. Defendant A ran a red light, entered the intersection and struck plaintiff's vehicle broadside. Plaintiff suffered a fractured leg as a result of the accident. The plaintiff stated that the defendants were negligent in the operation and ownership of their vehicle and caused the accident.

Settlement Discussions

PlaintiffÆs pre-litigation demand was $15,000. DefendantÆs carrier denied coverage. Plaintiff increased his demand to $115,000, accepted by defendants.
