Facts
Plaintiff Stephen Abram, age 32 at the time of the accident, tripped and stumbled on the surface of a concrete encasement located in a parking lot at 212 Yacht Club Way, Redondo Beach. The encasement which was owned by the defendant Southern California Edison contained a manhole which allowed access to instruments which measure the temperature of cooling water which enters the then Edison-owned Redondo Beach Generating Station. The generating station is located across the street from the location of plaintiff's accident. The plaintiff contended that there was a 4-inch differential between the encasement and the surrounding asphalt of the parking lot which was obscured by similarity in painting of both the encasement and asphalt. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence and premises liability.
