Plaintiff Hilla Futterman underwent examination and testing by orbital and ocular plastic surgeons at the Jules Stein Eye Institute of UCLA Medical Center. She was referred for further evaluation of eye pain and other related complaints following a punch in the eye, earlier. Following the examination, she complained of pain, tearing and vision disturbances in both eyes, which were later diagnosed as posterior vitreous detachment and dry-eye syndrome. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence.
