Facts

The plaintiff EEOC claimed in the subject suit that from November 1997 to June 2001, the defendant hotel failed to hire applicants over the age of 40 to work at the Coconut Club, a supper club located within the hotel. The plaintiff instituted the suit on behalf of 15 individuals who had their applications for jobs rejected. The defendant, the largest employer in Beverly Hills with 650 employees, denied the allegations but agreed to cooperate with the plaintiff to resolve the issues and further its anti-discrimination policies.

Settlement Discussions

The defendant agreed to a monetary settlement of $220,000 to be distributed among the individuals.

Damages

The 15 individuals involved claimed back pay, depending on the date of their application.
