On January 14, 1994, Plaintiff Jack Stevens, a 52-year-old full-line sales representative selling medical imaging equipment, was laid off by Defendant General Electric. Plaintiff tape recorded the layoff meeting. He had been employed by Defendant for 12 years. During the year before the layoff, Plaintiff alleged that he had been stripped of his biggest account and placed on a work program. Immediately after the layoff, Plaintiff allegedly enrolled in golf school.
