On September 5, 1993, Plaintiff Czigi Bickmore, a 42-year-old legal secretary, was on the premises of Defendant International Four-Square Gospel Church's campground near Lake Arrowhead. A cinderblock staircase was under construction. Plaintiff tripped and fell down the staircase. The Defendant masonry contractor made a pretrial settlement in the amount of $33,000. Plaintiff proceeded to trial against the Defendant premises owner, the church.
