On December 7, 1993, the plaintiff, Amy Shew, a 27-year-old movie set decorator, was backing out of a private driveway when she struck the defendant's, Laurie Maldague's, vehicle. The front of the defendant's vehicle collided with the rear tip of the plaintiff's bumper. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence theories of recovery.
