Facts
On February 1, 1992, the defendants, Maryse Nicole and Joseph Robert Knight, the owners of a successful doll designing business, defendant Maryse Nicole Originals, approached plaintiff Rosen, a 45-year-old network executive and asked him if he could find a buyer for their business. The plaintiff found a buyer for the business under the belief that he would get a 5% commission as a finder's fee when the purchase of the business was completed. The defendants paid the plaintiff $17,500, but refused to pay him more than that.
Settlement Discussions
The defendants made a C.C.P. Section 998 offer of compromise for $125,000.
Damages
The plaintiff claimed $270,000 plus attorney's fees.
