On August 8, 1994, the plaintiffs, a 52-year-old carpenter for the city of Los Angeles, and his 51-year-old wife, a part-time office receptionist, were traveling eastbound on Lahey Street in Granada Hills in their Chevy S-10 Blazer. The defendant was driving his car southbound on Haskell Avenue when he attempted to turn left onto Lahey Street and collided head-on with the plaintiffs' vehicle. The plaintiffs' vehicle was overturned by the force of the impact. The plaintiffs brought this action against the defendant based on negligence theories of recovery.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiffs each made C.C.P. º998 settlement demand for $100,000. The defendant made a C.C.P. º998 offer of compromise for $80,000 to the plaintiff husband and $65,000 to the plaintiff wife.
