On May 15, 1993, plaintiff Lesley Roby, a 26-year-old television commercial sales representative slipped and fell while walking on the front walkway of defendant Frederick D. Brenner's residence. The plaintiff was a visitor to the property and a friend of the defendant's granddaughter. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on premises liability and negligence theories of recovery.
