Facts

The plaintiff, an iron worker, was welding a walkway on a tank at the defendantÆs alkylation unit. When the Fire
Watch was hosing down the area below where the plaintiff was working, the firewater coming from the fire
hose caught fire. In his attempt to escape, the plaintiff fell and sustained comminuted fractures to his left wrist,
soft tissue shoulder injuries and second degree burns to the face. He was diagnosed as suffering from post-
traumatic stress disorder. The burns resolved without major scarring.
