Facts
On Feb. 8, 2001, plaintiff Brook Francisco was driving his motorcycle on a roadway in San Francisco. Defendant Woon Hing Lee was driving his car in the opposite direction. The defendant attempted to make a left turn in front of the plaintiff and the two vehicles collided, throwing the plaintiff to the street. The plaintiff sued the defendant for vehicular negligence. The defendant admitted liability but disputed the nature and extent of plaintiff's injuries and damages.

The plaintiff claimed damages for medical expenses and wage loss.
Injuries
The plaintiff sustained an internal derangement of his left knee, which required surgical repair of the anterior cruciate ligament with a thermal capsular shrinkage of the anterior cruciate ligament.
