Ellen Pao contended that while employed as a Junior Partner at the venture capital firm Kleiner Pekins Caulfield & Byers LLC she was discriminated against because of her gender and then retaliated against after she complained about sexual harassment and discrimination. She sued Kleiner Perkins, alleging it discriminated against her and other female employees. She brought causes of action for gender discrimination, retaliation, and failure to take all reasonable steps to prevent discrimination from occurring.
DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Kleiner Perkins denied the material allegations and asserted various affirmative defenses.
