Plaintiff Andrew Brajevich, a 64-year-old former insulator, had worked with asbestos from 1953 through 1975. Plaintiff's employer was Thorpe, a distributor of Johns-Manville products. Plaintiff had been a cigarette smoker with a 74-pack-per-year history of smoking and who quit in 1984. Plaintiff was diagnosed with asbestosis in 1985 and terminal lung cancer in March of 1993.
