Facts

On June 11, 1995, decedent Richard Omania, a 61-year-old retired engineer was struck by a taxicab driven by defendant Emad Abdel Aziz Abu Hayyah on Columbus Avenue and Bay Street. After this incident, Richard Omania died, but the case of his death was unclear. The plaintiff, decedent's daughter, brought this wrongful death action against defendants taxi driver and his employer.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a settlement demand for $50,000. The defendant made a C.C.P. º998 offer of compromise for $20,000.

The verdict was reached approximately one year and six months after the case was filed. A settlement conference was held on April 14, 1997 before the Hon. Donald S. Mitchell of the San Francisco Superior Court. It did not resolve the matter.
