Facts

On Jan. 31, 1996, plaintiff Kathleen Quire, a 46-year-old shipping clerk, was hit in a crosswalk by a vehicle being driven by defendant, a Los Angeles Times' delivery person. Defendant admitted liability but disputed the plaintiff's injuries. The plaintiff brought this action against defendant based on a negligence theory of recovery.
