In 1996, plaintiff Shawn Jones, a 6-year-old child, presented to defendant East County Community Clinic for treatment of a scalp condition. The plaintiff alleged that defendants failed to properly diagnose and treat Tinea capitis, a fungus infection of the scalp and hair, and as a result, the plaintiff sustained permanent hair loss. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendants based on negligent diagnosis and treatment.
