Facts
Lauren Scott, a 46-year-old designer of clothing for collectible dolls, went to Robert Mansueto D.D.S. for an
implant consultation after breaking a tooth. Implants were placed four weeks later, but Scott never returned for
the placement of crowns on the implants after healing. Scott saw several other dentists for consultation, due to
infection and implant failure. Scott claimed that the implants were failing and that her new dentist could not
place crowns because Mansueto had the parts to complete her dental work.
Scott also claimed that Mansueto was liable for fraud relating to statements in an
advertisement that mentioned "Affordable Implants," and for claims that he was a specialist in
implant dentistry.
