Facts

The plaintiff, 42, an experienced court reporter, had her arm broken by a San Francisco police officer, the defendant Anthony Nelson, at a anti-war protest on the day the United States invaded Iraq. The defendant's actions were caught on videotape by a witness and the videotape played a key role in the settlement negotiations.

Settlement Discussions

The parties settled at $835,000 in February 2005 with Hon. William Infante of JAMS.
