Facts
Plaintiff Michael Golden, a 50-year-old radio talk show host, lived in Fresno County. In December 1999, a law enforcement bunker in Fresno was burglarized of 200 pounds of explosives. The plaintiff's ex-wife phoned the Fresno County Sheriff with a tip that the plaintiff may be responsible for the burglary. At the time of the phone call, the plaintiff and his ex-wife were embroiled in custody and support disputes. The plaintiff and his children went to the Sheriff's Department to turn in some guns for the county's gun buyback program. The plaintiff was detained in the hallway and questioned. The investigating deputy then obtained a search warrant for the plaintiff's home. The search revealed no stolen items.

The plaintiff sought $12,000 for damages to his front door.

The plaintiff sought damages for emotional distress and post-traumatic stress disorder.
