On October 15, 1989, Plaintiff, an 18-year-old apprentice machinist, attended a "skinhead' party. Two blocks away, Defendant grocery store (major chain) had hired and employed Latino gang-member box boys. All during the evening, skinheads went to the Defendant's store and were being confronted by the gang-affiliated employees. At midnight and in the parking lot of Defendant's store, Plaintiff was allegedly shot by one of the same gang-affiliated employees.
