Facts

The plaintiff sued the defendants for malicious prosecution and conversion of property following her arrest for trespassing on real property located in Palm Desert owned by the defendants, the Eastwoods. The Eastwoods non-judicially foreclosed on the property after the former owners defaulted on the loan it secured. After the trustee's sale, the Eastwoods entered into possession of the property to protect and repair it. The plaintiff, her sister, their mother and others refused to vacate the property. The defendants asked the local sheriffs to arrest the plaintiff and her sister. The sheriffs investigated the situation and ultimately arrested the plaintiff and her sister for trespassing. The plaintiff's personal property was subsequently removed from the property and stored.

Damages

The plaintiff claimed she suffered emotional distress as a result of her arrest. Additionally, the plaintiff claimed damages for loss of personal property worth approximately $270,000.
