Carri Lyn Collie, a 32-year-old sales representative, was driving her van through an intersection on a green light in the city of Escondido when she was struck broadside by an Escondido police officer crossing the intersection against a red light. The officer was on an emergency call with emergency lights and siren activated. Both Collie and the officer claimed they had the right of way. Collie sued the city of Escondido.
