Facts

Plaintiff Charles Gelfo, a plastics fabricator worked for defendant Lockheed Martin. The plaintiff alleged he was discriminated against because of his actual disability and because he was regarded as disabled. He further alleged failure to engage in the interactive process and failure to provide reasonable accommodation.

Damages

The plaintiff sought $500,000 in compensatory damages.

Result

After plaintiff rested his case, defendant moved for a directed verdict. A verdict was directed in favor of defendant on the claims of discrimination based on actual disability, failure to provide reasonable accommodations, failure to engage in the interactive process and on the request for punitive damages. The jury then returned a unanimous verdict in the defendant's favor as to plaintiff's remaining claim for discrimination based on being regarded as disabled.
