Facts
On April 18, 1993, Plaintiff, a 36 year-old iron worker, and a co-employee were moving two 30-foot steel I-beams from a storage yard on one side of the street to the construction site on the other side of the street. Plaintiff was holding one end of the steel beams to steady them while the co-employee drove the forklift out of the yard and into the street. While still in the street, Defendant, driving a vehicle rented from Defendant rental agency, crashed into the opposite end of the steel beams, rotating the beams and pushing Plaintiff into the side of the forklift and onto the pavement. There were no flagmen to direct or stop traffic.
