Facts

Michelle Danahey, 28, lived with Scevhur Yun and Paul Eastham in Half Moon Bay. After she was injured during an accident while riding in a vehicle driven by Yun, she sued Yun for her injuries and settled for $25,000. Before the accident, Eastham had added Danahey to his automobile insurance policy with State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. as a driver and requested the same coverage he had. After the accident, Danahey filed a claim for underinsured motorist benefits, but State Farm denied her claim. Danahey sued State Farm, of Bloomington, Ill., requesting declaratory relief.
