Facts

According to the defendant: Felipe Sanchez, a 44-year-old bartender, was driving his 1995 Nissan Sentra on April 28, 2000 when he broadsided the 1994 GMC Jimmy driven by Stanley Hall as both entered the stop sign-controlled intersection of Jackson Street and Third Street in Oakland. Sanchez sued Hall, alleging vehicular negligence. Sanchez claimed that Hall failed to stop at the stop sign and was the sole cause of the accident. Hall contended that Sanchez, not he, failed to stop.
