Facts

On Jan. 8, 1996, the plaintiff, a 61-year-old regional sales manager, was driving his 1988 Oldsmobile south on Interstate 101 in the right lane. An 18-wheeler operated by the defendant driver, who was employed by the defendant company, clipped the left rear of the plaintiff's vehicle causing him to spin out of control and cross five lanes of travel. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendants based on negligence and negligent entrustment theories of recovery.
