Facts

The Los Angeles Dept. of Water and Power filed suit against the Mammoth Community Water District, disputing the water rights to Mammoth Creek and the Owens River.

Result

The parties settled. Mammoth agreed to pay the DWP $3.4 million to set up water conservation and efficiency projects, and in return retained the rights to use its current amount of water.
