Facts

On June 30, 1996, the plaintiff, a 65-year-old school teacher, slipped and fell on water on the floor at defendant's restaurant. The plaintiff contended that the water was left by an employee of the defendant who had recently mopped at the location of the incident. No warning cones were placed at the scene of the fall. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence and premises liability.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a settlement demand for $200,000 before agreeing to mediation.
