On Nov. 28, 1997, the Lechuga vehicle went off the road on Angelus Crest Highway. The decedents, Manuel
Lechuga, his wife and two minor children died as a result of the accident.
The plaintiffs contended that the lack of guardrail and black ice was a dangerous condition.
The defendants contended that the roadway has no ice and safe when used with due care.
