Facts

James Wong filed suit against Qingdao Yijia Native import & Export Ltd., seeking declaratory relief.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
James Wong was a court appointed receiver of Yihe Corp., a California corporation. Wong claimed that Yijia participated in a scheme to defraud Yihe and to create a fictional obligation of $16 million through the use of invalid invoices, bills, and delivery receipts. Wong asserted claims for declaratory relief and to set aside and invalidate fraudulent transfer.

On Yijia's counterclaim, Wong argued that Yihe did not owe Yijia any money, and that the two corporations had never validly transferred its seafood inventory.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Yijia filed a counter claim asserting that it was due money from Yihe, based on the purchase of an inventory of seafood.

Result

The court awarded Yijia $16,410,000.
