Facts

Anait Yezegelyan sued the City of Los Angeles and John Cano III, in connection with a motor vehicle incident that allegedly occurred on Aug. 6, 2012 at the intersection of Sunset Blvd. and Hobart Blvd.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff was driving along Hobart Blvd. on a green light when she was struck by a fire engine being operated by defendant Cano within the course and scope of his employment with the city. The fire engine was allegedly driving westbound on Sunset Blvd. on the wrong side of the road (the eastbound lanes). The fire engine allegedly entered a red when the collision occurred. Plaintiff was injured as a result. Plaintiff claimed defendants were liable for the said incident for negligence and reckless operation of the fire engine. Plaintiff asserted causes of action for motor vehicle negligence and negligent hiring, training, supervision, retention, and entrustment.

DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
The city denied the allegations and asserted various affirmative defenses. Defendant Cano likewise denied the allegations and asserted various affirmative defenses.

Result

The parties reached a $600,000 settlement.
