On March 24, 1989 Plaintiff Riedeman, a 52-year-old waitress, was a patron of Defendant Black Oak Restaurant in Vacaville California. A 10 lb. light fixture covering swung down from the ceiling and struck Plaintiff in the left shoulder, neck, and jaw.
