On Aug. 15, 2002, judgment was entered for the plaintiff and against the defendants in the amount of $1,522,000 on his claims of retaliation and discrimination in violation of the Fair Employment & Housing Act, breach of implied contract, slander and violation of Labor Code Section 1050 (blackballing). On Oct. 23, 2002, the plaintiff filed his motion for attorney's fees pursuant to the statutory provisions of FEHA.
Result
The total verdict of $2,343,869 consisted of $132,000 in lost wages; $350,000 slander; $500,000 emotional distress pursuant to retaliation under FEHA; $100,000 for violation of Labor Code section 1050 (blackballing) which was automatically trebled by the trial judge to $300,000; $120,000 punitive damages against the owner and $120,000 punitive damages against the Connecticut company, $768,668 in statutory attorney's fees, and finally costs in the amount of $53,200.

The plaintiff's motion for attorney's fees was granted, and he was awarded $768,668 which was additional to a cost award of $53,200.
