The plaintiff, a 54-year-old African-American, was dismissed from his position as basketball coach at Cal State Dominguez Hills. He earned $60,000 annually from this position. The plaintiff's one-year renewable contract was terminated after one season. The plaintiff, a standout guard at USC, played four of his 11 pro seasons in the NBA and was also an NBA assistant for eight years, including two with the Clippers.

Injuries

The plaintiff alleged that he required medical attention for stress and anxiety and he also claimed loss of wages.
