On March 25, 2000, the plaintiff, a 57-year-old machinist, went to a public auction held by the defendant First Capital Auction Inc. at its premises in Vallejo. He arrived at approximately 8:30 a.m. and began inspecting the vehicles that were for sale. When leaving a motor home, he claimed that he fell and injured his left wrist and left ankle.
