Facts

On Jan. 10, 2001, the plaintiff, Anna Tafoya, 57, was a passenger on a Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACTMA) bus traveling on Pacific Boulevard in Huntington Park. Cynthia Pink, an LACMTA employee was driving the bus in the right lane close to the curb, when a 1995 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Rember Mejia, allegedly made a right turn directly in front of the bus from the center lane. The bus collided with the passenger's side of Mejia's vehicle. Tafoya sued Mejia, the LACMTA and Pink, alleging general and vehicular negligence.

Settlement Discussions

The case was settled for $40,000. A $15,000 policy limit was reached with Mejia and a $25,000 settlement was made with Pink and LACMTA.
