Facts

The plaintiff was a computer program project manager working on a contract basis with a utility company in
England.
She was recruited by the defendant, a recruiting firm for the computer industry, located in Los Angeles, for a
one-year contract with IBM that was to pay her $98,000. The job was supposed to start in March, 1998.
The plaintiff allowed her contract with London Electric to expire and she did not replace it with other work
based on the signed contract with the defendant.
The plaintiff claimed she never heard anything more from the defendant and that it took
her six months to find another job.

Injuries

The plaintiff claimed that she suffered damages of $102,000, being the amount of the amended employment contract.

Other Information

The jury awarded $112,000 to the plaintiff. The defendant filed motions for new trial, remittitur and JNOV which were denied. The defendant has filed for an appeal.
