Facts

The 38-year-old plaintiff is a professional poker player who is confined to a wheel chair. On Jan.
17, 2000, the dealer at the plaintiff's table at Crystal Park Hotel and Casino claimed that the
plaintiff threatened her life after he lost several hands of poker. The plaintiff denied making the
threat. The plaintiff was detained until Compton Police officers arrived and placed the plaintiff
under arrest for making terrorist threats. The district attorneyÆs office did not file charges against
the plaintiff. The plaintiff instituted the civil action claiming false arrest and violation of civil
rights.
