Facts

In June 2003, plaintiff Kenneth Umatum, a 39-year-old construction worker, fell 12 feet through a hole in a roof at a construction site in Culver City. Defendant Corrado Construction Inc. was the general contractor on the project. The plaintiff worked for a subcontractor.

The plaintiff has been unable to work because of his injuries.

Injuries

The plaintiff suffered a severe fracture to the thigh bone of his right leg that required multiple surgeries and the insertion of a plate and 14 screws. He also had a varus in the knee that may require surgery. Medical specials totaled $106,582 without considering the need for future surgeries.

Other Information

The workers' compensation claim had a lien of $104,817, which was still open at the time of settlement.
