Mel Ramirez is a 33-year-old trash collector who is also a member of the Mongols, a motorcycle club. In 2002, Ramirez and the Mongols were in Laughlin, Nev. for the River Run, a motorcycle event. A fight erupted at Harrah's Casino between the Mongols and members of the Hell's Angels, another motorcycle club. Three people were killed and 13 were stabbed or injured by gunshots. Ramirez was among those injured by gunshots. Ramirez sued Harrah's Laughlin Inc. for having inadequate security.
