Facts

Consumers filed a class action lawsuit against Neutrogena Corp., alleging that Neutrogena deceptively advertised that six of its cleansers and moisturizers were natural even though they contained numerous synthetic ingredients. The plaintiffs argued that this was in direct contrast to marketing claims that Neutrogena Naturals contained "no harsh chemical sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, dyes or phthalates."

Result

The parties settled. Neutrogena agreed to pay $1.8 million in class compensation and to change the labeling and packaging of its products.
