Facts

On April 23, 1992, Plaintiff Peter Huh, a 21-year-old junior attending Occidental College in Eagle Rock, was a passenger in Defendant Meleik Hebert's Datsun 280 ZX. Hebert's vehicle initiated a left turn on a green light when the Datsun was struck in a broadside collision by a Toyota Camry owned by Defendant Alicia Diaz Granados and being driven by Guillermo Muller Gelinek (aka William Verner). Defendant Gelinek was traveling at approximately 48 to 53 mph in a 35 mph zone while under the influence of .20 blood alcohol. In addition, Gelinek possessed a fraudulent license as well as prior drug and alcohol problems. Gelinek was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence.

Plaintiff contends his pretrial demand was $2,500,000; Defendant Gelinek's offer was $25,000 (policy limits); Defendant Hebert offered a package of $150,000 (to include the $16,000 received from vehicle's owner); and Defendant Granados made no offers.
