Facts

Plaintiffs owned a parcel of land, approximately 5 undeveloped acres, in Camarillo. They sought to subdivide; and so they retained Defendant civil engineer who designed the grading, placement of streets, and utilities, as well as a storm drain to carry runoff from an adjacent property. Two other defendants were the general contractor (defaulted) of the development of the adjacent property and the grading contractor. In late 1991 heavy rainfall occurred; the storm drain failed.

Settlement Discussions

Plaintiffs contend they demanded $200,000 and Defendants made no offers.

Damages

$53,000 cost of repair.
