Plaintiff Jerrod Fields, a 26-year-old construction worker, was involved in two separate auto accidents. On Dec. 23, 1995, he was rear-ended by defendant Steve Martin while driving northbound on Interstate 5 in Mission Viejo. On June 9, 1996, defendant Hannah Young rear-ended plaintiff in Dana Point. The plaintiff brought this action against defendants based on a negligence theory of recovery and the cases were consolidated.
Settlement Discussions
The plaintiff made a settlement demand for $50,000. Defendant Martin made a C.C.P. º998 offer of compromise for $14,000. Defendant Young made no offer.
