Facts
On January 7, 1993, a 36-year-old kitchen helper and laborer, lost control of his automobile in mud and debris on a public roadway, adjacent to an airport. His vehicle struck a light pole and burst into flames. His neck was broken on impact and he died instantly. Construction was underway on the adjacent property of Defendant city (department of airports) by Defendant general contractor. Plaintiffs were the decedent's widow, 2 minor children (from the decedent and Plaintiff widow), and 2 teenage children in Guatemala (from a prior relationship).
Settlement Discussions
Plaintiffs contend their initial demand was $2,000,000 and Defendant's initial offer was $345,000.
